The wait is almost over for those who have been curious about upcoming Upper Kirby restaurant Trenza, which was slated for an October opening but was recently pushed back to November 2. Owner Susie Jimenez is popular for being a contestant on the show Food Network Star and for having hosted TV show Sabores De Family. She’s leaving behind her 12-year-old Aspen-based catering business to focus on this Houston establishment. In an Eater interview last month Jimenez revealed that she wants to present Latin-Indian fusion in small plates for those diners who want to sample flavor-forward cuisine. She described some of her menu highlights: “The lamb vindaloo sopes, sizzling shrimp [carpaccio-like, with hot lemon saffron oil and served with crostini], the signature dish is ceviche with jalapeño mousse.” She says that the shrimp dumplings with “soy, lime, cilantro, garlic, shallots and curry” are her favorite.

Jimenez talked to Eater today when she revealed that they will be holding a private soft opening event this Saturday (October 26) that already boasts a full guest list, including some of her Food Network co-stars. Lucky attendees of this red carpet event will get to sample cocktails and dishes from the menu. The official public opening is November 2; to make reservations call (713) 526-1414 or email the restaurant. Here are a few shots of the unfinished interior, which will be completely transformed for this weekend’s event. If you want to view the orignal article please [click here]
